in a fridge on the ship. Eventually, as it is the only
fridge on board, the whole crew uses it to store their
snacks. The intro to the sitcom Odd Company
opens with a shot of this fridge door being opened.

The premise for the Odd Company sitcom is a
seamless blend of The Odd Couple and
Three’s Company. The conflict oriented plotline
for Odd Company revolves around
the complication that female clones are not allowed
on the Sweet Gum for fear of compromising the
integrity of the collective homeostasis.
The Chance of generating a female clone from the
original genetic information sampled from Charles
is slim, but does exist. The Odd Company show exploits
this possibility. Odd Company is the clones' favorite show.
One of the favorite snacks and a rare treat is the weekly
churning and consuming of ice cream. The flavor of
choice is rainbow. This flavor has come to be named
Sof Cell, so called for the prime content of exfoliated
skin harvested from the Sweet Gum’s ventilation
filters.

Story re-write for Phrygianheir Zine

This is a fictional story that speculates about a
possible future. This story explores what it is like to
 be the only human on a ship in outer space.
The space ship in this story is called the Sweet Gum
 It is called Sweet Gum because its shape is similar
 to the seed pod of a tree that grows in the
American South. The Sweet Gum is a mining vessel
that is populated by x number of supplicant android
life forms. The integrity protocols of the mining
vessel's mission make allowances for one actual
humanoid life form. The one actual human on board
 assists the  android life forms in maintaining
behavioral traits conducive to the tasks at hand.
This one humanoid life form is the narrator of
our story. The title Phrygianheir is a play on words.
The play is between the word Phrygian, which is an
ancient cultural region in Turkey but also a type of
cap worn by those people. Eventually the red cap
came to signify Liberty in general when associated
with the French revolution. And now they use them
on packs of cigarettes. So in a sense the name
Phrygianheir describes one who has inherited this
tradition of social political and cultural transience,
servitude, resistance and the subject of

Rainbow Zone, Anomalies and Time and Music.

Charles, the captain, notices yet another
new behavioral trait of the clones, who
have now developed the habit of referring to
themselves as supplicants. This behavior
involves an innovation concerning the
experience of time. For all lifeforms on the
Sweet Gum, time is not a very useful dimensional
phenomenon. The captain is serving life on the
Sweet Gum for armed robbery. For Charles, time
has become a psychological sore spot, better off
forgotten about. The clones, or supplicants,
are designed for infinite quest.
However, once the supplicants developed a
taste for music time took on a different value.
Then like a virus time spread. The supplicants
each began to “keep” time as if it were their
wards, their pets. Since there were no

each supplicant developed the ability to discern
time by associating it with the space that gathered
in its presence. At the shoreline between
time and space, so the supplicants revealed to
Charles as his novel experience with time
escaped him long ago, there exists anomaly.
Frequently the anomaly coalesces into
light refracting clouds or visions depending
on the supplicant making the observation.
Subsequently each clone developed individuation
in this round-about way. Never ceasing to unnerve
Charles, these anomalous cloud visions inspire a faintly audible hum in the supplicants.

Charles notes the clones consume more of the rainbow ice cream than anything else. "soft cell" is the name of that particular flavor.
